Ma Fleur
So I have a bunch of rolls of film here to process, however I have a lot of editing to finish up. My computer has been out of commission for the last 2 weeks and now that it’s fixed I have a lot of work to catch up on. I leave for Korea in 16 days. I’m going to be in Asia for a month spending some time in Hong Kong. So in anticipation for the trip Nick who is also going on the trip (and I am competing against in the imagine cup incidentally) told me about a cool new thing called “thinstall”. Basically what this is is it’s an installation of a program that you can put on a usb key, a compact flash card, or a portable hard drive. Then you can run the software from that device on any computer. I’ve been playing with it here on my editing break. I put photoshop cs3 and lightroom on my battery powered hard drive and as a result I can pull my lightroom database up on any computer (like one in an internet cafe in korea) and edit my images without having to install any software. Also my hard drive can dump the photos off the card without connecting to a computer. So I’m very excited about all this and it seems to be working wonderfully, so far. I wish I had all this film processed but it will have to wait. Meanwhile in anticipation of my travels here are some little texture shots on the 30d in my neighborhood here in china town. These were taken on the very sharp 85mm 1.8.
This last shot is a 100% crop of the shot above it to show how sharp that 85mm 1.8 lens is. that shot is at 2.8 just enough to put the whole fly in focus but everything else soft.

Wow, something a bit different, but I like it a lot! Especially the first and the third photo. Really nice warm colours. I would fav this entry if I could.
